I was born in Mexico City and I immigrated to the US in September 1995. As a former Nurse in Mexico and an Immigrant, I decided to pursue a career to fulfill my passion helping others and to give back to the community.
I decided to go back to school and attended Portland Community College where I started learning English and obtaining an associates in Arts that helped me to transfer to Portland State University. At Portland State University I acquired a B.S majoring in Sociology, Social Sciences and I received a minor in Psychology, after that, I decided to continue pursuing my education and I obtained a B. A, and a major in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Social work.
I have worked in Child Welfare, Self Sufficiency / DHS systems and Mental Health System with nonprofit organizations and as a Nurse back in my country. These Jobs and my education have provided me with the experience and tools to understand humans in a more rounded point of view.
In my free time, I enjoy gardening, brewing my own Kombucha and cider, cooking and spending time with my family and our pets, family and friends.
Finally, one of my favorite quotes is by Ben Okri” The most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to transform, to love and to be greater than our suffering.
