Susan Montiel, CSWA

Susan Montiel holds a Master of Social Work degree from Portland State University. She integrates multiple modalities in her practice, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, and mindfulness techniques. Susan supports individuals in making meaning of their lived experiences, understanding the interactions between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and enhancing the body’s ability to regulate during stress. Her approach utilizes systems theory and a relational model to help individuals navigate depression, anxiety, and life transitions.

Susan employs a humanistic, person-centered lens in patient care, emphasizing collaboration and trust in the therapeutic relationship. She is committed to making mental health services more accessible to underrepresented communities and has experience working with individuals, children, youth, and families within child welfare and school systems. Susan offers bilingual and bicultural services to underrepresented LatinX communities.

In her free time, Susan enjoys spending time in nature, hiking, and gardening.
